The ticket purchase for “Southpaw-The last challenge” is: 1) Not Gifted 2) Tribute 3) In the afternoon 4) Reduced 5) Always
“Southpaw- the ultimate challenge” is a film of 2015 directed by Antoine Fuqua, written by Kurt Sutter, with: Jake Gyllenhaal, Rachel McAdams, Naomie Harris, Forest Whitaker, Rita Ora, 50 Cent, Oona Laurence.
What would have been Rocky Balboa without his Adriana? What would we have done without hearing that scream long and romantic Rocky that just became champion he called his woman.
No getting around without the strong figure and intense Adriana Rocky probably would never have captured the heart, head and soul.
Antoine Fuqua instead decided to tell the story of Rocky 3.0 loveless And what’s more suddenly and tragically widower and therefore angry of pain and full elaboration of mourning.
“Southpaw” can be told as an attempt, unsuccessful, to tell the intimate and psychological part of a boxer in this case that of Billy Hope starring Jake Gyllenhaal’s humble origins and violent and spent in the orphanage where he meets and falls in love Maureen (Adams), which later became his wife and mentor.
Billy Hope is a great boxer, has a nice house and a perfect family, but Maureen wants him out of the ring because they worried about the harsh and serious physical consequences that the fighting left on the body of her husband.
Billy. albeit reluctant he accepts the advice of his wife and is ready to stop when during a gala a fight with the boxer rival Escobar degenerates into tragedy with the death of Maureen due to a gunshot.
Billy hit it hard and soon lost the title, the house and especially the custody of his beloved daughter Leila (Laurence).
Our hero is forced to start from the bottom finding hospitality in Spartan gym Titus (Whitaker) who agrees to give him a modest job and especially to train him to get it back a real boxer giving him the ‘opportunity to take back the title and above all’ affection daughter allocated to social services.
A story seen and heard elsewhere that no enchants and stays flat warming little the viewer. The ambition to dig and describe the fall of man before the boxer remains almost completely unexpressed and on paper.
Parts and boxing workouts are free of that rush of adrenaline and participation would expect.
Despite the commitment, the will and the undoubted talent of Jake Gyllenhaal and his commendable physical transformation that evokes the old De Niro, Billy Hope its not broke through in the viewer remains a performance without major leaps, so much physical and impregnated sweat and blood, but a far cry from the intense and deep Rocky Stallone.
You feel the absence of a strong idea and enveloping that it can really take off the film.
Managed, well-built and good impact emotional scenes father -figlia especially about the young actress Oona Laurence that gives us an incisive and intense Leila breaking a prim and predictable narrative. continues on
