Ieri è stato ancora una volta San Valentino e molte coppie, se non saranno scoppiate durante la giornata, avranno festeggiato il proprio amore.
Anche il Festival di Berlino, al suo quarto giorno, ha voluto in qualche modo rendere onore alla ricorrenza presentando il film tedesco “24 settimane” nella sezione “Competition”.
Lo spettatore entra nella bella e serena vita della coppia formata da Astrid, brillante e popolare comica televisiva e suo marito e manager Markus. La coppia ha già una bella figlia e Astrid si avvia a diventare madre per la seconda volta. Tutto sembra procedere per il meglio, quando arriva la notizia dalle analisi di routine che il futuro neonato sarà affetto dalla sindrome di Down. È ovviamente un colpo durissimo per la coppia, costretta a valutare se tale notizia debba comportare l’interruzione della gravidanza, essendo possibile in Germania per motivi terapeutici anche al sesto mese.
Astrid e Markus si confrontano con gli amici e con i rispettivi familiari, cercando non tanto la risposta giusta quanto la forza necessaria per accogliere e crescere un figlio con un handicap. Dopo l’iniziale scoramento e comprensibili perplessità decidono di comune accordo di continuare la gravidanza. Sfortunatamente, nuove indagini sul feto portano alla luce una nuova anomalia cardiaca che condizionerà la sua esistenza. Questa seconda drammatica notizia mette in crisi la solidità del rapporto, facendo vacillare le certezze di Astrid e creando delle tensioni con Markus.
Il film racconta chi, all’interno della coppia, abbia diritto all’ultima parola su un argomento tanto delicato: se la donna, poichè può decidere del suo corpo o se la scelta di abortire debba essere condivisa con il proprio partner. Un argomento etico, religioso e, se vogliamo, il vero senso dello stare insieme, se conti di più l’egoismo emozionale della donna/madre o se l’uomo può avere spazio e diritto di parola.
Il tema è assai spinoso e controverso e, ciononostante, osservato e vissuto dalla prospettiva tedesca, più laica e, se vogliamo, luterana, ha tributato convinti applausi e apprezzamenti sia all’anteprima che alla conferenza stampa, segno di un pieno coinvolgimento emotivo e ideologico.
Probabilmente, un film del genere in Italia potrà provocare una maggiore e più chiara frattura tra le diverse fazioni. continua su

Yesterday was once again Valentine’s Day and many couples, if they are not broken out during the day, they will have celebrated their love.
The Berlin Film Festival, in its fourth day, has wished in some way to honor the occasion by presenting the German film “24 weeks” in the “Competition” section.
The viewer enters the beautiful and serene life of the couple formed by Astrid, brilliant and popular comedy television and her husband and manager Markus. The couple already has a beautiful daughter, Astrid starts to become a mother for the second time. Everything seems to be going well, when the news comes from routine analysis that the future baby will be with Down syndrome. It is obviously a blow for the couple, forced to consider whether such news must result in the termination of pregnancy, it is possible in Germany for therapeutic reasons also the sixth month.
Astrid and Markus comparing with friends and with their families, looking not so much the answer as the force required to accept and raise a child with a disability. After the initial discouragement and understandable misgivings decide by mutual agreement to continue the pregnancy. Unfortunately, new investigations on the fetus brought to light a new heart abnormalities that affect its existence. This second dramatic news undermines the strength of the relationship, in unsettling the certainties of Astrid and creating tensions with Markus.
The film tells those who, within the pair, is entitled to the last word on a subject as sensitive: if the woman, as it can decide on his body or if the choice to have an abortion should be shared with their partner. An ethical argument, religious and, perhaps, the true meaning of being together, if you count more emotional selfishness of the woman / mother or if man can have space and freedom of speech.
The issue is thorny and controversial, and yet saw and experienced from the German perspective, more secular and, perhaps, Lutheran, has bestowed convinced applause and appreciation that both the preview at the press conference, a sign of a full emotional and ideological involvement .
Probably, such a film in Italy will cause a great and clear rift between the different factions. continues on
