“Storia del nuovo cognome” è un romanzo di Elena Ferrante pubblicato nel settembre 2012 da E/O Edizioni.
Una seconda chance è giusto darla a chiunque. Figurarsi se poi il destinatario di tale opportunità è l’acclamata “scrittrice/scrittore?” Elena Ferrante.
Vi avevo lasciato qualche tempo fa con la mia recensione sul libro “L’amica geniale”, carico di perplessità e dubbi sulle effettive qualità della misteriosa autrice.
“L’amica geniale” non mi aveva entusiasmato avendo trovato la storia prolissa, lunga, lenta e incapace di accendere fino in fondo la mia curiosità e interessa di lettore.
Essendo però consapevole di “essere un diversamente ignorante” e probabilmente non adatto a cogliere le sottili sfumature letterarie del testo mi ero ripromesso di seguire il secondo romanzo, acquistato in promozione.
Ebbene la controprova è stata se possibile ancora peggiore.
Io sono un appassionato di soap-opera grazie alla preziosa e utile super visione di mia nonna.
Ciò che per molti è un prodotto insulso e inguardabile per me invece può diventare una storia da seguire con interesse giorno dopo giorno.
Elena Ferrante ha scritto una soap-opera ambientata a Napoli, ma il problema che è assai brutta.
Il teledipendente che è in me mentre leggeva questo secondo romanzo immaginava si le diverse scene proiettate sullo schermo, ma nello stesso tempo sbadigliava cercando con lo sguardo il telecomando.
Le vite di Elena e Lila e dei loro amici non bucano lo schermo restando piatte e monotone.
La storia di un’amicizia che si tramuta in odio poi gelosia poi ancora compassione e infine preoccupazione non convince, poco originale e prevedibile.
L’autrice ha costruito una struttura narrativa complessa e nello stesso tempo farraginosa e confusionaria non facendo scattare l’empatia tra i personaggi e il lettore.
Lo stile seppure curato, preciso ed elegante non aiuta nella lettura che risulta comunque faticosa e lenta.
Una saga perché di questo si tratta dovrebbe avere dei caposaldi che permettano al lettore di ritrovarsi e rispecchiarsi nei protagonisti e nei loro problemi. Nel nostro caso invece manca tutto questo e onestamente non perché questo romanzo sia adatto più a un genere femminile.
Il sottoscritto legge con gusto anche Sophia Kinsella e Bridget Jones e semmai il problema che con Elena Ferrante non è scattata la scintilla.
Consiglierei quindi a un mio amico/a di leggere la saga? No, forse per onestà intellettuale e soddisfare la loro curiosità probabilmente li farei leggere il primo romanzo.
Onestamente “Storia del nuovo cognome” nonostante il titolo ha ben poco di nuovo.

A second chance is right to give it to anyone. Imagine then if the recipient of such an opportunity is the acclaimed “writer / writer?” Elena Ferrante.
I had left some time ago with my review on the book “The brilliant friend”, full of confusion and doubt about the actual quality of the mysterious author.
“The brilliant friend” I was thrilled having found the story lengthy, long, slow and unable to turn up at the bottom of my curiosity and interest of the reader.
However, being aware of “being an otherwise ignorant” and probably not suitable to grasp the subtle nuances of the literary text I had promised myself to follow the second novel, bought in promotion.
Well, the rebuttal was if possible even worse.
I am a fan of soap operas thanks to the valuable and useful super vision of my grandmother.
What for many is a product silly and unwatchable for me it can become a story to follow with interest every day.
Elena Ferrante wrote a soap opera, but the problem is very bad.
The couch potato in me while reading this second novel imagined you different scenes projected on the screen, but at the same time yawned looking around the remote control.
The lives of Elena and Lila and their friends will not pierce the screen remain flat and monotonous.
The story of a friendship that turns into hate and jealousy then even compassion and concern ultimately unconvincing, unoriginal and predictable.
The author has constructed a complex narrative structure and at the same time cumbersome and confusing not triggering the empathy between the characters and the reader.
The style even cared, precise and elegant does not help in the reading which is still arduous and slow.
A saga because of this it should be the cornerstones that enable the reader to find himself and reflected in the protagonists and their problems. In our case this is lacking and honestly not because this novel is more suited to a female gender.
The law signed by taste even Sophia Kinsella and Bridget Jones and if anything, the problem with Elena Ferrante’s spark.
Then I would recommend to a friend / to read the saga? No, maybe for intellectual honesty and satisfy their curiosity I would probably read the first novel.
Honestly “History of the new surname” despite the title has very little new.
