La legge non ammette ignoranza e neanche la televisione perdona il teledipendente distratto . Pur considerandomi un attento e curioso osservatore del tubo catodico ,devo fare sincera mea culpa per aver ignorato un gioiello di nome “America Horror Show”. E’ difficile recensire uno show, nato nel 2011 e giunto alla quarta edizione che ha ormai raggiunto alti picchi di consenso tra il pubblico e critica.
Preferisco quindi raccontarvi quali sensazioni ho provato ieri sera guardando la prima puntata della quarta stagione partita su Fox.
Una serie che come la più bella delle arabe fenici risorge dalle proprie ceneri ad ogni nuova stagione incantando e avvolgendo lo spettatore con una diversa storia e differenti personaggi.
Una serie “horror” che punta a raccontare e descrivere quali e quanti mostri ci siano nella nostra società e di come soprattutto agiscano e pensino.
Eppure sarebbe riduttivo classificare questo show in una banale e semplice categoria. Questa quarta stagione ambientata nel 1952 in un circo di una piccola cittadina di nome Jupiter ha un potenza visiva e una poetica di colori e immagini tali da non poter non sottolineare ed esaltare la bellezza e fascino della mostruosità.
Immagini , suoni e parole che trascinano lo spettatore immediatamente dentro lo schermo in una realtà tra l’onirico e il surreale in cui non puoi fare altro che trattenere il respiro passando dalla prima scena in cui osservi e ascolti una giovane donna felice dir aver cambiato vita e di come si senta finalmente libera per passare subito alla visione di un macabro e misterioso omicidio di una vecchia signora avvenuta in casa sua e per poi essere trasportati in ospedale dove medici e infermieri osservano stupiti e impauriti le lastre di una paziente particolare.
I primi fuochi d’artificio servono a presentare e portare sulla scena la vera star dello show. Jessica Lange ,sempre nelle precedenti stagioni. Sarebbe inutile e noioso raccontare la carriera dell’attrice americana, ma fin dalla sue prime battute emergono il talento, l’intensità integrativa e il fascino che fanno dire allo spettatore che nonostante il tempo trascorso la bellezza della Lange è rimasta mostruosamente unica.
In questa serie Jessica Lange è Elsa Mars direttrice di un circo in continua ricerca di nuove attrazioni e cosi decide di reclutare la paziente dell’ospedale che si scopre essere in verità due gemelle Bette e Dot (Sarah Paulson) unite in solo corpo , ma con personalità e anime diverse.
Due donne vessate e umiliate dalla vecchia madre, vittima del brutale omicidio, e segregate in casa perché considerate un “abominio della natura”. Così stanche e desiderose di libertà in un raptus omicida la uccidono e per fuggire dalla polizia accettano l’invito di Elsa di unirsi al circo.
Un circo formato da uomini e donne unici, per il mondo “mostri”, ma come li definisce la stessa Elsa”sono persone bellissime ed eroiche e i veri mostri senz’anima sono fuori dal circo”.
A turbare la quiete della cittadina è la presenza di un brutale assassino che compie efferati omicidi anche tra donne e bambini. Assassino che ha le sembianze di un diabolico clown che al vederlo nello spettatore suscita timore e veri brividi lunga la schiena.
Chi sono i mostri in questo show? Difficile dare una riposta e sicuramente dipende da quale prospettiva lo spettatore guarda la storia e i suoi personaggi. Una storia magnetica, violenta,paurosa, crudache inchioda il pubblico alla visione grazie a un testo magistralmente scritto, avvincente e convincente e una regia di assoluto talento che regala una gamma di emozioni e spunti di riflessione attraverso un costante ritmo e un crescente pathos narrativo.
Lo spettatore neofita come me alla fine della prima puntata in cui la malinconia prende il posto della brutalità e dell’orrore e rimanendo colpito dalla silenziosa nonchè sconvolgente vestizione di Elsa, non può non chiedersi cosa sia davvero mostruoso in questo mondo.

The law does not admit ignorance and even television forgives the couch potato distracted. While considering myself an attentive and curious observer of the picture tube, I do sincere mea culpa for ignoring a jewel named “America Horror Show”. It ‘hard to review a show, born in 2011 and now in its fourth edition, which has now reached high peaks of consensus among the public and critics.
I prefer to tell you what feelings I tried last night watching the first episode of the fourth season game on Fox.
A series that as the most beautiful of the Arab phoenixes rising from its ashes with each new season captivating and enveloping the viewer with a different story and different characters.
A series “horror” that aims to tell and describe what and how many monsters there are in our society and especially how to act and think.
Yet it would be simplistic to classify this show in a trivial and simple category. This fourth season set in 1952 in a circus of a small town named Jupiter has a visual power and poetry of colors and images that can not fail to stress and enhance the beauty and charm of monstrosity.
Images, sounds and words that draw the viewer directly into the screen in a world between dream and surreal when you can not help but hold your breath passing from the first scene in which to observe and listen to a happy young lady say I changed life and how you feel finally free to go immediately to the vision of a macabre and mysterious murder of an old lady took place in her home and then be transported to the hospital where doctors and nurses look amazed and frightened the plates of a particular patient.
The first fireworks are used to introduce and bring to the scene the real star of the show. Jessica Lange, always in previous seasons. It would be useless and tedious to recount the career of the American actress, but since its opening bars emerging talent, intensity integrative and charm that make the viewer say that despite the elapsed time the beauty of the Lange remained monstrously unique.
In this series Jessica Lange is Elsa Mars director of a circus in constant search of new attractions and so decides to recruit the hospital patient who turns out to be truth twins Bette and Dot (Sarah Paulson) united in one body, but with personality and different souls.
Two women harassed and humiliated by old mother, a victim of the brutal murder, and segregated at home because they are considered an “abomination of nature.” So tired and eager to freedom in a murderous rampage to kill and to escape from the police accept the invitation by Elsa join the circus.
A circus made up of men and women only, for the world “monsters”, but defines them as the same Elsa “people are beautiful and heroic and true soulless monsters are out of the circus.”
To disturb the peace of the city is the presence of a brutal murderess who turns brutal murders among women and children. Murderess who has the appearance of an evil clown to view it in the viewer arouses fear and real chills long back.
Who are the monsters in this show? Difficult to give an answer and certainly depends on which perspective the viewer looks at the story and its characters. A magnetic history, violent, scary, crudache nails the public thanks to the vision of a text masterfully written, compelling and convincing, and a director of absolute talent which offers a range of emotions and ideas through a steady pace and a growing narrative pathos.
The viewer neophyte like me at the end of the first episode in which the melancholy takes the place of the brutality and horror and remaining silent and also struck by shocking dressing of Elsa, can not but wonder what is really monstrous in this world.
