Cosa sarebbe la nostra vita senza ricordi? La memoria e l’esperienza sono i due capisaldi dell’esistenza di ognuno di noi, ciò che ci rende forti e vivi. La memoria è il nostro tesoro, il porto in ci rifugiamo quando la realtà appare sgradevole e ostile.
Eppure esiste una malattia atroce che va a toccare, disintegrandola poco a poco, la consapevolezza di ciò che abbiamo vissuto, l’Alzheimer. Una parola brutta, anche dal solo punto di vista fonetico, per un male che trasforma, lentamente e inesorabilmente, un essere umano in un vegetale, in uno zombie.
L’Alzheimer è considerato un’emergenza nazionale negli Stati Uniti; nel nostro paese, invece, le costose cure per chi soffre di questo morbo sono a carico dei familiari. Generalmente colpisce le persone anziane, ma i casi di pazienti “giovani” sono in forte aumento. Una malattia misteriosa per molti aspetti, difficile da prevenire.
“Still Alice”è la cruda e amara storia di Alice (Moore), bella e atletica cinquantenne, stimata professoressa di Lingue in una prestigiosa Università, che improvvisamente si scopre malata di Alzheimer. Alice è una donna realizzata nel lavoro e felice nella vita privata. Ha infatti un marito, medico affermato, e tre bei figli.Alice intuisce che qualcosa non va nella sua mente quando durante una conferenza non ricorda le parole da pronunciare in un discorso o come durante una abituale corsa non riesce più a capire dove si trova. Allarmata consulta un neurologo che dopo gli approfonditi esami emette la drammatica sentenza: Alzheimer precoce e di origine genetica, una variazione del morbo se possibile ancora più devastante e veloce nello svilupparsi. La notizia ovviamente stravolge la vita di Alice e della sua famiglia. John (Baldwin) marito devoto cerca in tutti i modi di starle vicino e sostenerla e gli stessi figli seppure preoccupati di aver ereditato il morbo si stringono intorno alla madre. Per Alice, donna forte ed energetica che ha fatto della proprietà del linguaggio e delle parole l’essenza stessa della sua vita soffrire di Alzhimer è come subire la pena del contrapasso dantesco.La donna lotta con tutte le sue forze per evitare di perdersi e nello stesso tempo predispone un accurato piano qualora le tenebre calassero su di lei. Una malattia che se da una parte spegne Alice, dall’altra le permette di capire e soprattutto di appianare i conflitti con la ribelle e inquieta figlia Lydia(Stewart) che sogna di fare l’attrice piuttosto che il college preoccupando non poco la madre per il suo futuro.
La sceneggiatura è asciutta, semplice, diretta e personalmente la ritengo precisa e rigorosa nel descrivere l’inizio della malattia e di come essa cambi non solo la vita del malato, ma anche quella dei familiari. Quando si racconta una malattia e le sofferenze di un malato di solito un testo tende a scivolare nel melenso e soprattutto alla lacrima facile. Qui invece gli autori hanno il pregio di portare il lettore per mano nella drammatica conoscenza di questa malattia senza far ricorso a scene eccessivamente caricate e forti per indurlo alla facile e scontata commozione. Il testo ti spinge a vedere il mondo dalla prospettiva di Alice e di fa comprendere quanto sia terribile e angoscioso perdere dopo giorno una parte di te. Gli stessi dialoghi sono sobri, credibili e comunque molto intesi e avvolgenti.
La regia è di taglio televisivo, ma un prodotto televisivo di buona qualità e attento a raccontare una storia con delicatezza ed eleganza riuscendo a creare un ponte emotivo tra lo schermo e il pubblico in sala garantendo un ritmo costante . Uno stile pulito e caloroso che esalta il già talentuoso cast.
Se dovessimo dare retta ai rumors e ai premi assegnati dalla critica nelle ultime settimane il prossimo 25 febbraio Julianne Moore dovrebbe vincere l’Oscar come migliore attrice senza se e senza ma. Sappiamo bene pero che la storia degli Oscar è ricca di colpi scena e di clamorosi e discutibili verdetti. Julianne Moore avrebbe meritato di vincere per la sua lunga e brillante carriera già da tempo un paio di Oscar, eppure è ancora a mani vuote. La Sua Alice è davvero toccante, vera, forte, empatica, elegante e umana. Lo spettatore partecipa al suo drammatico e veloce declino. Si unisce alla sua lotta pur sapendo di essere una battaglia persa.Moore è un Attrice completa e talentuosa negli anni ci hanno ridere e commuovere con i suoi personaggi riuscendo sempre ad essere credibile. Quest’anno le concorrenti per l’Oscar sono davvero agguerrite e altrettanto di valore. Probabilmente quella della Mooore ,pur essendo un performance intensa e degna di un forte plauso,non è la sua migliore in assoluto. Ma comunque ben venga l’Oscar per una delle poche attrici complete che ci sono attualmente in circolazione e che mostra con orgoglio la sua età senza vergogna e desiderio di alcun ritocco estetico.
Menzione particolare per Kristen Stewart all’interno di cast solido e adeguato alla storia,la giovane “vampira” sta crescendo artisticamente e con tenacia e talento si sta togliendo gli abiti scomodi del personaggio d “Bella”e sta facendo conoscere allo spettatore il valore dell’attrice Kristen.
La sua Lydia a metà strada tra voglia di ribellione e affetto filiale convince e piace mostrando una forte e incisiva personalità.
Il finale del film toccate e drammatico evita di mostrarci la “caduta” definitiva della protagonista preferendo mostrare al pubblico che l’alzheimer può togliere tutto alla persona ,lasciandolo “nudo “di fronte a tutti, ma non potrà mai privarlo dell’amore dei suoi cari.

What would our life without memories? The memory and experience are the two cornerstones of the existence of each of us, what makes us strong and alive. Memory is our treasure, we take refuge in the harbor when the reality is unpleasant and hostile.
Yet there is a terrible disease that touches, disintegrating gradually, the awareness of what we experienced, Alzheimer’s. A bad word, even by only aurally, for a disease that turns, slowly and inexorably, a human being into a vegetable, in a zombie.
Alzheimer’s is considered a national emergency in the United States; in our country, however, the costly care for those suffering from this disease are borne by the family. Generally affects older people, but cases of patients “young” are rising fast. A mysterious disease in many respects, difficult to prevent.
“Still Alice” is the raw and bitter story of Alice (Moore), a beautiful and athletic fifties, esteemed professor of languages at a prestigious university, who suddenly discovers suffering from Alzheimer’s. Alice is a woman made in the work and happy in private life. Indeed has a husband, a doctor said, and three beautiful children .Alice realizes that something is wrong in his mind when, during a conference does not remember the words to say in a speech or as usual during a race is not able to figure out where it is. Alarmed consult a neurologist who after thorough examinations emits the dramatic sentence: early Alzheimer’s and of genetic origin, a variation of the disease if it can be even more devastating in developing and fast. The news obviously disrupts the lives of Alice and her family. John (Baldwin) devoted husband tries in every way to be near her and support her own children and even worried that he has inherited the disease huddle around the mother. For Alice, strong woman and energy that made the property of language and words the essence of his life suffer Alzhimer is like to suffer the penalty of counterpoise dantesco.La woman fight with all his might to avoid getting lost and in same time prepare a thorough plan when darkness calassero on her. A disease that if one part off Alice, on the other hand allows her to understand and especially to address conflicts with the rebellious and restless daughter Lydia (Stewart) who dreams of becoming an actress rather than college worrying not just for the mother its future.
The screenplay is dry, simple, direct and personally I feel precise and rigorous in describing the onset of the disease and how it changes not only the patient’s life, but also that of their families. When you tell a disease and suffering of a sick usually a text tends to slide in dull and especially to tear easily. Here, however, the authors have the advantage of bringing the reader by the hand in the dramatic knowledge of this disease without resorting to overly loaded scenes and strong to induce him to the easy and obvious emotion. The text makes you see the world from the perspective of Alice and makes you realize how terrible and agonizing days after losing a part of yourself. The same dialogues are sober, credible and however much understood and enveloping.
Directed by cutting television, but a television product of good quality and careful to tell a story with delicacy and elegance managing to create an emotional bridge between the screen and the audience ensuring a steady pace. A clean and warm that enhances the already talented cast.
If we were to listen to rumors and prizes awarded by critics in recent weeks next February 25 Julianne Moore should win the Oscar for best actress without ifs and buts. We know, however, that the history of the Oscars is full of shots of the scene and sensational and controversial verdicts. Julianne Moore deserved to win for his long and distinguished career for some time a couple of Oscar, yet it is still empty-handed. His Alice is really touching, true, strong, empathetic, elegant and human. The audience participates in his dramatic and rapid decline. Joins his struggle despite knowing that she is a battle persa.Moore Actress complete and talented in the years we have laughed and moved with his characters always managing to be credible. This year’s competitors for the Oscars are really aggressive and equally valuable. Probably one of Mooore, despite being a performance worthy of a strong and intense applause, not its absolute best. But however well be the Oscar for one of the few actresses complete that there are currently in circulation and proudly displaying his age without shame and desire of any aesthetic touch.
Special mention for Kristen Stewart in cast solid and appropriate to the story, the young “vampire” is growing artistically and with tenacity and talent you are removing the clothes uncomfortable character of “Beautiful” and is making the viewer know the value of ‘actress Kristen.
Its Lydia halfway between desire for rebellion and filial affection and convinces like showing a strong and incisive personality.
The film’s final dramatic touch and avoids to show the “fall” of the protagonist ultimately preferring to show the public that Alzheimer’s can take away everything to the person, leaving it “naked” in front of everyone, but it will never deprive him of his love dear.
